My Lunar Eclipse Photos

We watched the news last night and heard about the Lunar Eclipse that was coming. The newscaster said that the best viewing in our area would be between 5:30 AM and 6:30 AM on Wednesday. Well, this morning my husband woke me up around 5:30. He was ready to go outside and view the eclipse.

Barely awake, I had to search for my slippers and a sweater–and of course grab my camera. Within five minutes I joined him in our backyard and stared up at the moon. Almost as spectacular were the millions of stars. I took fourteen photos of the moon by zooming in as much as I could without totally blurring the picture. The pictures aren’t as crisp as I would like, but at least you can see the eclipse in them.

I tried to zoom in on the stars, too, but couldn’t see any of them with my camera.

Anyway, here are a few of my eclipse shots.

  • Beautiful photos:) it's so hard to photograph the sky at night. Well done! Thanks for sharing. I'm sharing on twitter and Facebook.

    • Thanks, Luccia! Trying to zoom in on something that far away in the dark was tough. The image kept moving. It was fun to try, though.

  • Hi Susan! It's obviously a spacey day. I didn't know about the lunar eclipse, but I have been thinking about space today, and my latest blog has a spacey photo too. A coincidence? :)

I'm so glad you got some really great photos here. Thanks for sharing them. XXXX :D

  • You did a nice job, there, Susan. An eclipse is a really neat thing to see - well worth losing a little sleep over. It was cloudy here but seeing the Moon in front of the nearby stars can give a wonderful 3-D effect. Glad you caught it.

  • Nice photos. Those turned out better than mine. I got up early to watch the entire eclipse from start to finish. I was so tired at work, but it was worth it. I have a red moon in my novel so I'm considering this "research."

      • I know what you mean. I zoomed in and out trying to get the best shot. I have a few decent ones. We have a few more eclipses in 2015, but I don't know if they will be visible in my state.
